Should a tabular CV really look like an Excel spreadsheet with gridlines?

The borders reduce the amount of white space and make the document harder to read. It is better to use a transparent table or a tab to clearly separate the two columns. On the other hand, using subtle lines to separate the individual sections can help to make the document clearer.
