Junior Professional Officer (Forensic Analyst)
Description
Division/VPU: Integrity - Prevention, Risk & Knowledge Management (INTPR)/ Integrity Vice Presidency (INTVP)
Duty Location: Washington, D.C.
Appointment Type and Duration: Two-year Term Appointment
BACKGROUND
As part of the World Bank Group, the Integrity Vice Presidency (INT) plays a fundamental role in detecting, preventing, and deterring fraud and corruption in the use of World Bank financial resources. INT works to ensure that development funds reach their intended beneficiaries and contribute to poverty alleviation and shared prosperity in client countries. The Vice President of INT reports directly to the World Bank President, ensuring organizational independence.
INT achieves its mission through three core functions: investigating allegations of fraud, corruption, collusion, coercion, and obstruction in World Bank activities and seeking sanctions against firms and individuals engaged in sanctionable practices; supporting client countries by referring investigative findings to local authorities, building capacity in preventive and forensic techniques, and collaborating in multilateral anti-corruption efforts; and enforcing the highest standards of professional integrity among World Bank staff and corporate vendors through investigations and strengthened internal controls.
The Prevention and Risk Knowledge Management (PRKM) unit within INT prevents integrity risks through proactive engagement, technical support, and knowledge sharing. PRKM comprises specialized teams including the Complaints Development Unit (CDU), Forensic Services Unit (FSU), the Data Lab (DL), and a Knowledge Management function. The unit provides critical support across all regions, offering guidance on fraud prevention and detection, conducting proactive reviews and forensic audits, and developing tools to combat fraud and corruption in collaboration with operations staff, other Multilateral Development Banks, and various stakeholders.
