 Your responsibilities:

The Quantitative Economics Division is a research group within the Department of Economics, Analytics and Operations Research that has a clear focus on high-quality research and is active in a variety of topics in economics, econometrics and quantitative economics. The position comprises the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Independent and collaborative research with the aim of submitting a dissertation in economics, econometrics or quantitative economics and acquiring a doctoral degree
  • Independent and collaborative teaching at the university, both in German and English as required, and supervision of students
  • Contribution to departmental research and teaching projects
  • Participation in the administrative tasks and responsibilities of the department
  • Participation in university committees, in university self-governance and in public relations activities of the department 

Your profile:

  • Completed diploma or master’s degree in economics with a strong formal or quantitative focus or a related field (e.g., mathematics, statistics, econometrics or similar, including also related engineering programs, with a strong formal background) at a higher education institution. Note: This requirement must be fulfilled by February 7, 2027 at the latest.
  • Good academic record
  • Good knowledge in at least one of the fields data analysis, quantitative economics, econometrics and/or statistics
  • Proficiency and ability to teach in English or German
  • (Preferably strong) experience in scientific programming (e.g., Python, R or MATLAB) 

This distinguishes you additionally:

  • First experiences in academic teaching and research
  • First experiences in quantitative economics or similar fields
  • Strong interest in developing theoretical results
  • Dedication to research in economics, econometrics or quantitative economics
  • Proficiency and ability to teach in both English and German
  • Strong motivation and output orientation
  • Ability to work independently in (scientific) projects with a focus on high quality and precision
