The following position will be filled at the Department of Statistics at the Faculty of Technical Science with a preferred starting date of September 1, 2026 (the starting date is negotiable, but no later than March 1, 2027):

The Stochastic Processes group at the Department of Statistics is embedded into the university’s area of key research strength “Multiple Perspectives in Optimization (MPOpt)” and it participates in the thematic doctoral programme “Modeling – Analysis – Optimization of discrete, continuous, and stochastic systems”.
Your responsibilities – what awaits you:
- Independent research including the publication of research articles and active participation in international conferences, in one or more of the following fields: numerical methods for stochastic differential equations, computational stochastics, optimal transport for stochastic processes, analysis of stochastic differential equations
- Independent delivery of lectures and exercise courses using established and innovative methods (e.g., digital teaching); on average 4 teaching hours per week during the semester
- Supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s students
- Participation in public relations activities
- Participation in university self-management and in quality assurance measures
Your profile:
- PhD/Doctoral degree at a national or international university in mathematics or a related field.
This requirement has an extended deadline and must be fulfilled two weeks before the starting date at the latest; hence, the latest possible deadline for meeting this requirement is February 14, 2027. - Strong background in one or more of the following fields: numerical methods for stochastic differential equations, computational stochastics, optimal transport for stochastic processes, analysis of stochastic differential equations
- First publication(s) in renowned relevant journals
- Experience in the presentation of scientific results
- Fluency in English

- High communication and dissemination skills
- Scientific curiosity and enthusiasm for imparting knowledge
- Enthusiasm for working in a diverse team
- Programming skills (e.g., Python, Matlab, R, SageMath, Mathematica, C/C++, …)
